February 11th,
8:00 pm MOONLIGHT PADDLE:
We will put in around 8 PM at Whitey's Fish Camp on Highway 220 in Orange
Park. Address is 2032 Highway 220, Orange Park and the phone number there
is 269-4128. Unfortunately there are no rentals available. These moonlight
trips are very different than daylight trips so if you haven’t done one yet,
call me to let me know you will be there. I would like to know who to expect
so we don’t go off and leave someone at the put-in, so please do call to let
me know you will be there. Bring flashlight/headlight and bug spray, and
dress for the weather - don’t know if it will be cool that night or not.

February 18th,
9:00 am, PADDLE ON BLACK CREEK:
We will enjoy a leisurely paddle on Black Creek in Middleburg. The river
flows along the Ravines Golf Course in areas and is very pretty there is a
nice picnic area at the boat launch where we can have a picnic lunch. If
anyone if up for a short hike after the paddle, the Black Creek Trail is
only minutes away. Bring lunch, water, sunscreen, and bug repellent. There
is no boat launch fee. Sorry, there are no rentals available. Meet at the
McDonalds in Middleburg on SR 21 (Blanding Blvd.) at 9:00 a.m. If you need

February 23ND,
Thursday, 6:30 pm, QUARTERLY PLANNING MEETING:
We will meet at the Southeast Regional Public Library at Gate Parkway off of
J. Turner Butler Blvd. at 6:30 PM. Come help us plan the activities for the
next quarter. This club is run by its members and it is the members that
create the calendar of activities, so plan on supporting your club by
attending the planning meeting with ideas to put on the calendar for the
next few months. If you’ve never led a trip but have an idea for one, join
us. There will be someone there that will be willing to co-lead the trip
with you or if you still don’t feel comfortable as a co-leader, you can help

February 25th,
Saturday, 8:00 am, BIKING AT WHITE SPRINGS:
We will be bicycling to the canoe launch and down the fire lanes through St.
Johns Water Management Area. Any bike but a road bike will work for this
ride. Bring your bike, snacks, water. We will meet at Hardee’s on Lane Ave

March 1st,
Wednesday 6:30 pm, MONTHLY MEETING:
We will meet at the Southeast Regional Public Library at Gate Parkway off of
J. Turner Butler Blvd. for a discussion of past events and highlights of
upcoming events. All members, new members and prospective members are
encouraged to attend. At 5:00 pm, prior to the meeting, some members meet at
Bono’s restaurant on Gate Parkway, for dinner. After the meeting, all are
encouraged to join us at a local Restaurant for socializing, coffee,
dessert, late dinner or a snack.
March 4th, 5th,
and 6th, (Sat., Sun. and Mon.) BACKPACKING TRIP TO CUMBERLAND ISLAND:
Have you every wanted to see the other side of Cumberland Island? Now you
can. We will ride the ferry over Sat. morning and backpack to a middle point
of the island where we will set up camp and explore the area. Sunday
morning, we will hike to the north end of the island without our packs and
explore that end of the island. Monday morning, we will pack up and hike
back to the dock to catch the afternoon ferry. If you are interested in

March 5th Sunday,
2:00 pm, HIKE TIMUCUAN PRESERVE:
We will be hiking about 4 or 6 miles with changes in the elevation to an
observation tower through the swamp with diverse wildlife and bird viewing.
Wear comfortable shoes like boots. We will meet at Hardee's on Merrill Road.

March 11th,
Saturday, 7:00 am, RATTLESNAKE ROUND UP:
We will travel 2-˝ hours to the scenic town of Claxton, Georgia for a
10:00 AM parade. After the parade we will attend the annual Rattlesnake
Roundup. This is an outdoor festival with wild life demonstrations featuring
rattlesnakes, arts and craft fair and plenty of festival food. There will be
a small entry fee. We will meet at Denny’s at the airport exit at 7:00 am.

March 17th, 18th
and 19th, ST. PATRICK'S DAY IN SAVANNAH:
We will camp at Skidaway Island State Park, east of Savannah, GA. and take
the shuttle to downtown Savannah for the parade and festivities. Return
after dinner to camp. Since Savannah is only two hours from Jacksonville,
feel free to make this a day trip by joining the group in Savannah for the
parade and returning to Jacksonville that night. Leave from Denny’s at the
Airport Rd. exit off I-95. Call now to reserve your camp site. Leader: John

March 25th,
Saturday, 7:30 am- PADDLE ON THE ICHETUCKNEE RIVER:
We will paddle down the river that we usually tube down during the summer.
Bring your own boat or rent one. Only bottled water is allowed on the river,
Plan to snack or eat at the end. For boat rentals call Family Canoe and
Cabins at 386-497-2150 or 866-224-2064. Entrance fee to the park is $5.00
per person. We will meet at Hardee’s on Lane Ave. (just south of I-10) and

April 5th,

May 5th, 6th and
7th - CAMPING AND TOUR OF CHARLESTON, S.C.:
We will be
camping and touring Charleston with a trip to Middleton and or Magnolia
Gardens which is comparable to Callaway Gardens. It will be spring time and
the flowers should be in full bloom. We will do a lot of walking that
weekend. The venues will be the city itself (like Savannah, like
Charleston); Middleton Plantation and/or Magnolia Plantation (like Callaway
Gardens, like the plantations); the Charleston Aquarium. More research to
be done before trip time as to activity possibilities, we will not be just
sitting around. It will be a great weekend. Call now to reserve your camp
