Earline wrote: "We had a wonderful trip. Heike, Gene and Buzz came out on Friday evening and helped decorate the campsite. Saturday morning Dick J met us and we paddled on Black Creek and P Creek for about 3 hours. By the time we got back to the campsite, many of our fellow campers had arrived. After lunch, we started the chili, as people arrived they put in their contribution, and everyone stirred it when they went into the dining hall. Then we had the pumpkin carving contest. Heike won 1st prize with her scary pumpkin, I won second with my gray one and Sandy P won third with her wee chinee pumpkin. Then we lined them all up on a bench around the campfire. After eating THE BEST CHILI WE HAD ALL EATEN it was time for the costume contest. Dick J won 1st place with his Dick-the-Pimp costume, Marsha took second as a Christmas Tree, and Buzz came in third as a Flower Child. That evening we had a "burn the witch" ceremony (Marsha had a decoration she put into the fire and we couldn't let that happen without a ceremony.) Then some of us went to the dock and sang songs. Sunday morning Buzz and Jeff cooked breakfast. All the women were banned from the kitchen. They cooked a wonderful breakfast of pancakes, eggs, with left over chili and sausage. The men also cleaned up. We took the decorations down, loaded the cars, then hiked to the tree houses. All-in-all it was a wonderful weekend." |
